Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced and highly skilled Senior Content Writer – English to support the communication and content requirements of a Government Ministry, Government of India.

The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in English content and script writing, corporate/government communications, digital content, and public-facing communication. The candidate must be capable of understanding complex information and converting it into clear, engaging, grammatically accurate, and audience-appropriate content.

Experience of working directly with Government Ministries, Departments, PSUs, or other government institutions will be strongly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

Develop high-quality English content for government communication, campaigns, programmes, initiatives, and public awareness activities.
Write and edit scripts, articles, blogs, press-related content, social media posts, speeches, presentations, brochures, newsletters, website content, and communication material.
Create compelling content for marketing and public outreach campaigns while maintaining the appropriate government communication tone.
Translate complex government policies, schemes, programmes, and technical information into simple, clear, and engaging language.
Develop content and scripts for digital campaigns, social media, videos, short films, presentations, and other multimedia formats.
Proofread and edit content to ensure accuracy, consistency, grammar, tone, and adherence to communication guidelines.
Work closely with government officials, communication teams, designers, social media teams, and other stakeholders to develop integrated communication material.
Conduct research and gather relevant information from reliable sources to create factually accurate content.
Ensure all content aligns with the Ministry's objectives, communication strategy, brand guidelines, and government protocols.
Manage multiple content assignments simultaneously while meeting strict deadlines.
Review and refine existing content to improve clarity, impact, readability, and engagement.
Support the development of communication strategies and creative concepts for various government initiatives and campaigns.

Mandatory Requirements

10+ years of relevant professional experience in English content writing, preferably involving marketing campaigns, corporate communications, public relations, digital communications, or government communications.
Minimum 2 years of relevant experience working with Government Ministries, Departments, PSUs, or government institutions.
Excellent command of written and spoken English, with exceptional grammar, vocabulary, sentence construction, and editing skills.
Proven experience in script writing and content development for digital and/or multimedia campaigns.
Demonstrated experience in writing blogs, articles, social media content, website content, speeches, campaign material, and other communication assets.
Strong research, proofreading, editing, and storytelling capabilities.
Excellent working knowledge of MS Office, particularly MS Word and Excel.
Good understanding of social media platforms, digital communication tools, and content management applications.
Ability to work effectively in a multi-stakeholder and government environment.
Strong attention to detail and the ability to handle sensitive and high-visibility communication assignments professionally.

Educational Qualification

Graduate in Mass Communication / Journalism / Liberal Arts or related field from a recognized university and/or
M.A. in English Literature

Preferred Skills

Prior experience with a Government of India Ministry/Department will be an advantage.
Experience in government schemes, public awareness campaigns, policy communication, or citizen-centric communication.
Familiarity with government communication protocols and official documentation.
Experience working with creative agencies, designers, video production teams, and digital/social media teams.
Strong ability to adapt writing style for different audiences and communication channels.
