Job title: Assistant Manager / Manager – Tax Litigation
Location: Vadodara, Gujarat
Experience: Minimum 1 Year Post-Qualification Experience
Salary: Up to ₹50,000 per month
Specialization: Direct Tax / Indirect Tax Litigation
Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Chartered Accountant (CA) with specialized experience in tax litigation and dispute resolution.
The selected candidate will be responsible for representing the organization or its clients before various tax authorities, drafting legal submissions, managing complex tax disputes, and developing effective litigation strategies. The ideal candidate should possess strong knowledge of applicable tax laws, excellent analytical capabilities, and hands-on experience in managing tax litigation matters.
Key Responsibilities
Litigation & Dispute Resolution
- Represent the organization or clients before tax authorities, appellate tribunals, and judicial bodies.
- Draft and review legal documents, including appeals, submissions, replies to show-cause notices, and petitions.
- Develop litigation strategies to minimize tax exposure and resolve long-standing tax disputes.
- Brief senior advocates and external legal counsel for representation in high-stakes matters before High Courts or the Supreme Court.
- Analyze case facts, supporting documents, and applicable provisions to build strong litigation positions.
Tax Advisory & Compliance
- Analyze tax risks associated with business operations and recommend proactive mitigation strategies.
- Interpret complex tax judgments, amendments, notifications, and regulatory developments and assess their impact on ongoing litigation.
- Review internal tax positions to ensure compliance and help prevent future disputes.
- Support the organization or clients in evaluating tax positions arising from business transactions and operations.
Stakeholder Management
- Coordinate with internal Finance, Legal, and Operations teams to collect relevant data, documents, and evidence for case preparation.
- Work closely with external legal consultants, auditors, and other professional advisors.
- Maintain effective professional relationships with relevant tax authorities and external stakeholders.
- Coordinate case-related documentation and ensure timely completion of litigation activities.
Required Qualifications & Skills
Education & Experience
- Qualified Chartered Accountant (CA) – Mandatory.
- Minimum 1 year of post-qualification experience exclusively in either:
- Direct Tax / Income Tax Litigation, or
- Indirect Tax / GST / Customs Litigation.
- Strong hands-on exposure to tax litigation and dispute-resolution matters.
- Candidates should have specialized litigation experience rather than general taxation/compliance-only experience.
