Job Title: Industrial Designer
Employment Type: Full-Time
Salary: 4-5 LPA + Incentive
Job Overview
We are looking for a creative and detail-oriented Industrial Designer to develop innovative, user-centric products from concept through production. The ideal candidate will combine strong design thinking, engineering knowledge, and manufacturing expertise to create functional, aesthetically appealing, and manufacturable products.
This role requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams, including engineering, manufacturing, and product development, to ensure designs meet user needs, technical requirements, and business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
1. Concept Development
- Develop innovative product concepts based on user needs, market research, and business goals.
- Create concept sketches, mood boards, storyboards, and design presentations.
- Research design trends, materials, manufacturing techniques, and competitor products.
- Generate multiple design concepts and evaluate them based on functionality, usability, and feasibility.
2. Product Design & Prototyping
- Develop detailed 3D CAD models using software such as SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Rhino, or equivalent.
- Prepare production-ready designs and engineering documentation.
- Build and evaluate physical prototypes using 3D printing, silicone molding, CNC machining, or other prototyping techniques.
- Refine designs based on prototype testing and stakeholder feedback.
3. User-Centered Design
- Apply human-centered design principles to create intuitive and ergonomic products.
- Conduct user research, usability studies, and ergonomic evaluations.
- Ensure products meet safety, comfort, and accessibility standards.
4. Engineering & Manufacturing Collaboration
- Work closely with mechanical, electronics, and manufacturing teams throughout product development.
- Ensure designs are manufacturable, cost-effective, and scalable for production.
- Select appropriate materials and manufacturing processes, including injection molding, CNC machining, casting, and fabrication.
- Support Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) initiatives.
5. Testing & Validation
- Conduct usability testing, design validation, and performance evaluations.
- Identify design improvements and implement corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards and quality requirements.
6. Documentation
- Prepare technical drawings, product specifications, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and design documentation.
- Maintain proper version control of CAD files and project documentation.
- Support design transfer and product handover to production teams.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Mechanical Design, or a related field.
- 2–5 years of experience in Industrial Design or Product Design.
- Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Rhino, or similar platforms.
- Strong sketching, visualization, and conceptual design skills.
- Good understanding of materials including plastics, silicone, metals, and composites.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as injection molding, CNC machining, casting, sheet metal fabrication, and prototyping.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience designing medical devices, healthcare products, or simulation equipment.
- Hands-on experience with rapid prototyping technologies, including 3D printing and silicone molding.
- Basic understanding of electronics integration within physical products.
- Familiarity with UI/UX principles for hardware products.
- Experience working in multidisciplinary product development teams.
