Job Responsibilities
The role is responsible for ensuring smooth running of plant machinery by performing mechanical maintenance and basic electrical troubleshooting, handling preventive and breakdown maintenance, reducing downtime, maintaining safety and documentation standards, and supporting production teams to keep machines operating efficiently. The position requires hands-on work with industrial equipment like cut & bend, weldmesh, CTL and automation systems, with a strong focus on problem-solving, reliability, and continuous learning.
Mechanical Maintenance
- Perform daily, preventive, and scheduled maintenance of mechanical machinery, including:
- Cut & Bend Machines, Schnell machines (Smart Mesh BB, Robo Master 60, Coil Mover)
- CTL machine, Shearline, Weldmesh equipment
- Motors, gearboxes, conveyors, bearings, rollers & alignment components
- Diagnose mechanical failures and implement corrective actions with minimum downtime.
- Inspect and replace bearings, pulleys, belts, chains, seals, sprockets, and lubrication systems.
- Conduct precise equipment alignment (e.g., shaft alignment, tensioning, calibration).
- Monitor machine wear & tear and raise requirements for spares and overhauling.
- Lead root-cause analysis for repetitive failures and implement permanent corrective actions.
Electrical Support & Troubleshooting
- Perform basic electrical troubleshooting including:
- Motor starter panels, sensors, limit switches, contactors, relays & overload protection
- MCC panel wiring, control wiring, emergency shutdown circuits
- Cable laying, cable terminations, connections & motor testing
- Inspect electrical connections to ensure safety compliance and eliminate hazards.
- Assist external service technicians for advanced electrical or automation support when required.
- Operational Reliability
- Ensure maximum machine uptime and maintain service performance KPIs.
- Respond to breakdowns promptly and manage emergency repairs safely.
- Optimize machine cycle time and efficiency through continuous improvement initiatives.
Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain machine service history, breakdown logs, checklists, spare parts consumption & maintenance reports.
- Follow and improve preventive maintenance schedule (PMS) for all equipment.
- Ensure adherence to ISO, safety, and statutory compliance standards.
- Maintain 5S workplace discipline in the maintenance workshop and plant premises.
Coordination & Training
- Coordinate effectively with Production, Quality, Stores & OEM service teams.
- Train operators on basic machine handling, preventive actions & safety practices.
- Participate in internal audits, machine inspections & safety drills.
Desired Academic Qualifications
- ITI / Diploma in Mechanical / Electrical / Fitter / Mechatronics or equivalent.
Desired Work Experience
- 2–8+ years’ experience in maintenance within manufacturing/rebar/steel fabrication/automation plants.

- Achieve machine uptime target of 95% and minimize breakdown frequency.
- Ensure 100% completion of preventive maintenance as per schedule.
- Reduce repetitive breakdowns through root cause analysis and corrective action.
- Respond to breakdowns quickly and minimize machine downtime duration.
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs, breakdown reports and PM checklists.
- Ensure availability of critical spare parts and avoid downtime due to spare shortage.
- Maintain strict compliance with safety standards & PPE usage.
- Support production team and train operators on proper machine handling.
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives and suggestions for machine efficiency.
- Reduce external service dependency and maintenance costs.
- Maintain 5S discipline and housekeeping in maintenance work areas.
- Ensure proper coordination with OEMs and service providers when required
