Job Description
Position: Mobile Test Automation Engineer
Job Summary:
We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Mobile Test Automation Engineer to join our QA team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining robust mobile test automation frameworks primarily using Appium, WebDriverIO, and Cucumber. You will play a key role in ensuring the quality and stability of our mobile applications by developing automated tests that run consistently and efficiently across CI/CD pipelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Test Automation Development: Design, develop, and maintain scalable test automation frameworks for mobile applications (iOS and Android) using Appium, WebDriverIO, and Cucumber. Implement BDD-style test scripts and maintain test data and environment configurations. Integrate automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or CircleCI.
- Test Strategy & Execution: Define automation strategy for mobile features and functionalities. Collaborate with QA, development, and product teams to understand requirements and translate them into effective test cases. Perform regression testing and maintain scripts to adapt to product changes.
- Quality Assurance Leadership: Drive quality across the development lifecycle by setting and enforcing automation best practices. Conduct code reviews and mentor junior QA engineers in mobile automation practices. Participate in sprint planning, grooming, and retrospective sessions.
- Monitoring & Reporting: Generate automated test reports, logs, and defect reports using tools like Allure, TestRail, or Zephyr. Track automation coverage and provide metrics to support release decisions.
Skills
- Technical Skills: 6–7 years of overall experience in software testing with strong focus on mobile test automation. Expertise in Appium for both native and hybrid mobile app automation. Strong command over WebDriverIO with JavaScript/TypeScript. Proficiency with Cucumber and BDD methodologies. Solid understanding of iOS & Android platforms, emulators, simulators, and device testing. Experience with CI/CD tools and Git. Familiarity with RESTful APIs and API automation (preferred).
- Soft Skills: Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. Strong communication and documentation abilities. Self-driven with a proactive mindset and attention to detail. Comfortable working in agile environments and cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications: ISTQB or similar certification. Experience with cloud-based mobile testing platforms like BrowserStack or Sauce Labs. Knowledge of performance and security testing fundamentals.
