Job Responsibilities
The Production Assistant Manager will oversee day-to-day production activities across TMT rebar cut & bend, weldmesh, CTL, and warehouse operations. The role demands a strong background in Lean practices to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and ensure optimal utilization of machines and other production lines
- Production Management
- Plan, schedule, and monitor daily production to achieve volume, quality, and cost targets.
- Oversee operations of machinery including Schnell cut & bend, weldmesh, CTL, and related equipment.
- Ensure preventive and predictive maintenance schedules are adhered to.
- Lean Systems Implementation
- Lead Lean initiatives such as 5S, Kaizen, SMED, and Value Stream Mapping to eliminate waste and streamline processes.
- Train and mentor shop-floor teams in Lean principles and continuous improvement methods.
- Develop KPIs to track OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) and productivity.
- Process Improvement & Quality
- Identify bottlenecks and implement corrective actions for cycle time reduction and capacity enhancement.
- Maintain quality control standards aligned with Tata Steel specifications and customer requirements.
- Team Leadership
- Supervise and motivate production staff, ensuring skill development and multi skilling.
- Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous learning.
- Cost & Inventory Control
- Optimize resource utilization (raw materials, manpower, and energy).
- Work with warehouse teams for JIT inventory and material flow improvements.
- Compliance & Safety
- Enforce EHS (Environment, Health & Safety) guidelines and statutory compliances.
- Coordinate with Admin for machinery-related legal compliances and civil/plant maintenance.
- Cross-Functional Coordination
- Collaborate with Supply Chain, Quality, and Maintenance teams for seamless production planning.
- Provide timely MIS reports to management on production KPIs and lean outcomes.
Desired Academic Qualifications
- B.Tech / Diploma in Mechanical, Industrial, or Production Engineering (preferred).
Desired Work Experience
- 2-4 years in production/operations in steel processing, fabrication, or heavy engineering industries(preferred).
