Job Overview

The Lead MEP Engineer will be responsible for understanding project briefs, architectural intent, client requirements, design constraints, and project objectives and translating them into practical, coordinated, and technically sound MEP solutions.

The role involves leading multidisciplinary MEP design activities, reviewing technical calculations and drawings, coordinating with clients and project stakeholders, and ensuring quality throughout design development and project execution.

Candidates must have strong technical knowledge, excellent communication skills, and the ability to independently manage technical discussions, design coordination, and project deliverables.

Key Responsibilities

• Study and understand project briefs, architectural drawings, reflected ceiling plans (RCPs), layouts, specifications, design intent, and client requirements before initiating MEP design.
• Develop practical MEP design strategies based on project requirements, architectural intent, functionality, applicable standards, and site constraints.
• Lead multidisciplinary MEP design and coordination covering HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Fire Protection, and associated building services.
• Review and validate design calculations, system selection, equipment sizing, layouts, schematics, BOQs, specifications, schedules, and technical submissions.
• Coordinate MEP services with architectural, structural, interior, and other engineering disciplines.
• Review designs for constructability and identify potential coordination, maintenance, and execution issues during the design stage.
• Understand client expectations, project priorities, and design requirements and ensure their accurate incorporation into MEP designs.
• Coordinate directly with Architects, Clients, PMCs, Contractors, Vendors, Consultants, and other project stakeholders.
• Lead technical discussions and communicate engineering requirements, design decisions, and solutions clearly and professionally.
• Identify design discrepancies, missing information, technical conflicts, and coordination issues and raise appropriate technical queries or Requests for Information (RFIs).
• Review client comments and ensure timely and accurate incorporation into drawings and technical submissions.
• Conduct design review meetings and coordinate technical inputs, revisions, approvals, and project deliverables.
• Conduct project site visits to assess existing conditions, verify requirements, coordinate with site teams, and provide technical guidance.
• Prepare and review Site Observation Reports, Technical Queries, RFI/RFP documents, design review comments, and other project-related technical documentation.
• Ensure MEP designs and deliverables comply with applicable codes, standards, project specifications, and client requirements.
• Coordinate with the Mumbai Head Office technical team for design development, internal reviews, quality control, and end-to-end project submissions.
• Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and design team members while maintaining quality and consistency across project deliverables.

Candidate Profile

• Candidates with 5–7 years of relevant experience in MEP Design or MEP Consultancy.
• Strong practical understanding of multidisciplinary MEP design and building services.
• Ability to interpret architectural drawings, project briefs, RCPs, specifications, design intent, and client requirements.
• Ability to translate client requirements and architectural design intent into practical and coordinated MEP solutions.
• Strong knowledge of MEP design principles, calculations, system selection, equipment sizing, layouts, BOQs, specifications, and technical documentation.
• Strong experience in Commercial Fit-Out and Building Services projects.
• Experience in Design & Build projects will be an added advantage.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong client-facing skills with the ability to communicate professionally with Architects, Clients, PMCs, Contractors, Vendors, and Consultants.
• Ability to understand technical requirements, raise relevant queries, present engineering solutions, and resolve coordination issues.
• Strong analytical, coordination, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to independently manage technical responsibilities, priorities, project submissions, and deadlines.
• Strong attention to design quality, technical accuracy, documentation, and project requirements.
• Willingness to undertake project-related site visits and travel as required.
• Ability to take ownership of technical responsibilities and deliver practical, high-quality engineering solutions.

Compensation & Benefits

• Annual CTC: ₹5.00–₹6.00 LPA
• Compensation based on relevant experience, technical expertise, communication skills, and performance during the technical interview.
• Initially Work-from-Home arrangement with project-based site visits for Hyderabad and Bengaluru locations.
• Work from Home is not applicable for Mumbai.
