About the Role

• The Exhibition Designer is responsible for designing high-quality museum display systems that ensure the safe, effective, and visually engaging presentation of collections.
• The role requires strong technical design capabilities, attention to detail, and experience in translating exhibition concepts into construction-ready designs and technical drawings.

Key Responsibilities

• Design museum display cases, showcases, plinths, pedestals, and object mounts.
• Prepare detailed technical drawings, construction details, fabrication drawings, sections, and elevations.
• Develop CAD-based layouts and execution drawings for permanent and temporary exhibitions.
• Coordinate with curators, conservators, architects, and fabricators to ensure conservation and display standards are met.
• Review shop drawings, prototypes, materials, and fabrication quality.
• Resolve technical and construction issues during fabrication and on-site installation.
• Ensure compliance with museum standards, accessibility, durability, and visitor safety.

Qualifications & Experience

Undergraduate Degree in any one of the following (or equivalent):

• Visual Communication / Communication Design
• Graphic Design
• Exhibition Design
• Spatial Design
• Interior Design
• Animation
• Multimedia
• Game Design
• Fine Arts (Specialization in Applied or Digital Arts)

Postgraduate Specialization (Preferred):

• Exhibition & Experience Design
• Museum & Heritage Design
• Interaction Design
• Related Design Fields

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Strong expertise in Display Case Design and museum display systems.
• Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD.
• Working knowledge of 3D modelling software such as SketchUp, Revit, or Rhino.
• Excellent construction detailing, fabrication documentation, and material specification skills.
• Sound understanding of museum display standards, conservation requirements, and fabrication processes.
• Ability to produce precise, construction-ready drawings and coordinate successful exhibition installations.
