The Production Manager will be responsible for planning, organizing, and controlling all manufacturing operations to achieve business growth, operational excellence, productivity targets, and profitability in alignment with the organization's vision, objectives, and strategic goals.
The role requires strong leadership in production management, quality assurance, customer satisfaction, cost control, and continuous improvement initiatives while ensuring compliance with safety, health, and environmental standards.
Key Responsibilities
Production & Operations Management
Plan, organize, and oversee manufacturing operations to achieve production targets and business objectives.
Ensure optimum utilization of manpower, machinery, materials, and resources.
Drive continuous improvement in productivity, efficiency, quality, and operational performance.
Monitor production schedules and ensure timely delivery of products to customers.
Implement manufacturing best practices to improve operational effectiveness.
Business Growth & Customer Management
Support business growth by maintaining and developing relationships with existing and new customers.
Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction through quality products and timely deliveries.
Coordinate with customers regarding production schedules, delivery commitments, and quality requirements.
Address customer feedback and implement corrective actions when necessary.
Quality & Process Improvement
Ensure adherence to quality standards, customer specifications, and organizational requirements.
Monitor manufacturing processes and implement corrective actions to improve product quality.
Drive process improvement initiatives focused on productivity, efficiency, and waste reduction.
Manage non-conforming products and ensure appropriate disposition and corrective actions.
Financial & Administrative Management
Manage departmental budgets and control operational expenditures.
Monitor costs and implement initiatives to improve profitability.
Oversee administrative and commercial functions related to production operations.
Leadership & Team Management
Lead, mentor, and motivate production teams to achieve individual and organizational objectives.
Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
Develop internal communication processes to enhance awareness of customer requirements and business goals.
Ensure effective workforce planning, performance management, and employee development.
Health, Safety & Compliance
Ensure strict implementation of health, safety, and welfare measures across the facility.
Promote a safe working environment and compliance with statutory regulations.
Monitor adherence to company policies, procedures, and operational standards.
Strategic Initiatives
Contribute to the development of business strategies, policies, and organizational growth plans.
Stay updated with industry trends, technologies, and best practices.
Execute special projects and assignments as directed by management.
Authority
The Production Manager is authorized to:
Modify or stop production plans based on customer feedback, quality concerns, or operational requirements.
Initiate control, segregation, and disposition of non-conforming products.
Escalate operational performance trends and business risks to senior management.
Liaise directly with customers on delivery schedules, quality issues, and production-related matters.
Desired Candidate Profile
Educational Qualification
Bachelor's Degree/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline.
MBA/PGDM in Operations Management will be an added advantage.
Experience
Proven experience in Production Management, Manufacturing Operations, Plant Operations, or Factory Management.
Strong exposure to production planning, quality management, team leadership, and process improvement.
Experience in managing manufacturing units with responsibility for productivity, quality, cost, and delivery performance.
