Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced and technically strong Calibration Laboratory Head to lead the calibration laboratory operations for gas, dust, and meteorological monitoring instruments. The role involves defining calibration methodologies, developing SOPs, improving measurement accuracy, ensuring quality compliance, and leading laboratory excellence initiatives aligned with ISO/IEC 17025 standards.
The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in calibration systems, uncertainty estimation, testing methodologies, and laboratory quality management.
Key Responsibilities
Calibration Operations & Technical Leadership
Develop and maintain calibration SOPs, work instructions, and technical documentation for gas, dust, and meteorological parameters.
Define calibration setups for new parameters, instrument types, and measurement ranges.
Design workflows, technical specifications, and environmental requirements for calibration systems.
Lead testing experiments to identify and reduce measurement errors such as drift, linearity deviations, cross-sensitivity, and environmental influences.
Ensure calibration traceability to national and international standards.
Quality & Compliance Management
Establish calibration quality standards and monitor laboratory KPIs.
Build and maintain quality systems aligned with ISO/IEC 17025 and NABL requirements.
Prepare and maintain measurement uncertainty budgets using GUM methodology.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives for calibration accuracy and process efficiency.
Support internal and external audits and ensure laboratory compliance readiness.
Team Leadership & Collaboration
Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and training to calibration and testing teams.
Coordinate with R&D, production, QA, and field teams for calibration requirements and technical support.
Review technical reports, validation data, and laboratory documentation.
Ensure proper maintenance and utilization of laboratory equipment and infrastructure.
Research, Validation & Improvement
Design and execute method validation and accuracy improvement studies.
Analyze calibration data and implement corrective and preventive actions.
Support development of new calibration capabilities and testing methodologies.
Stay updated with industry standards, environmental monitoring regulations, and calibration best practices.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Instrumentation, Environmental Engineering, Applied Physics, Atmospheric Science, Metrology, or a related field.
Minimum 4 years of hands-on experience in calibration or testing laboratory operations.
Total professional experience of 6+ years preferred.
Strong understanding of measurement uncertainty estimation and GUM methodology.
Experience working with gas analyzers, dust/particulate monitors, or meteorological sensors.
Proven experience in SOP creation, calibration workflow design, and technical documentation.
Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
Preferred Skills
Experience with NABL or ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation processes.
ISO/IEC 17025 Internal Auditor or Lead Assessor certification.
Knowledge of air quality standards and environmental monitoring protocols.
Experience in statistical analysis, method validation, and testing experiments.
Proficiency in calibration data analysis and reporting tools.
