Role Overview

We are looking for a passionate and skilled Prototyping Technician / Fabrication Specialist to support prototype development for sensor housings, outdoor enclosures, mounting structures, and product assemblies.

The ideal candidate should enjoy hands-on fabrication, working with tools, and creating high-quality prototypes for testing and product validation. You will work closely with industrial designers and R&D engineers to bring ideas to life.

Key Responsibilities

Prototype Development & Fabrication

• Build functional prototypes for environmental testing and product validation.
• Perform fabrication activities including cutting, drilling, grinding, sanding, polishing, buffing, and painting.
• Work with materials such as aluminum, stainless steel, acrylic, ABS, polycarbonate, plastics, and composites.

Surface Finishing & Assembly

• Perform surface preparation and high-quality finishing for production-like prototypes.
• Handle spray painting and finishing activities to achieve smooth and professional-quality output.
• Assemble mechanical parts, electronic enclosures, and prototype models.

Tool & Workshop Operations

• Safely operate hand tools, power tools, and workshop equipment.
• Maintain workshop cleanliness, tool organization, and safe working practices.
• Support fabrication of fixtures, jigs, and custom prototype assemblies.

Collaboration & Iteration

• Work closely with designers and engineers to improve prototype functionality and manufacturability.
• Quickly iterate on prototype versions based on R&D feedback and testing outcomes.
• Assist in converting 2D drawings and 3D models into physical products.

Required Skills

• Hands-on experience in fabrication, prototyping, model making, or workshop operations.
• Strong expertise in surface finishing, sanding, polishing, and spray painting.
• Experience in post-processing 3D printed parts (FDM/SLA).
• Proficiency with tools such as drills, grinders, jigsaws, sanding machines, and basic welding/soldering equipment.
• Ability to interpret 2D drawings and 3D designs for physical fabrication.
• Basic understanding of mechanical and electronic assembly practices.
• Strong problem-solving mindset and willingness to experiment with prototype solutions.

Good to Have

• Basic electronics, soldering, and wiring knowledge.
• Prior experience in prototyping labs, automotive workshops, fabrication workshops, or design studios.
• Exposure to product development or industrial design environments.
