Reporting To: Medical Superintendent / Clinical Director

Employment Type: Full-Time / Visiting Consultant

Salary: ₹36 LPA

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Consultant Pulmonologist to lead the Pulmonology & Respiratory Medicine department. The role involves providing comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic care for patients with respiratory and pulmonary conditions while supporting the hospital’s commitment to clinical excellence and NABH standards.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, diagnose, and manage acute and chronic respiratory disorders including asthma, COPD, ILD, pulmonary tuberculosis, pleural diseases, respiratory infections, and sleep-related breathing disorders.
  • Perform and interpret Pulmonary Function Tests (PFTs).
  • Manage ICU patients requiring ventilatory and respiratory support in collaboration with the critical care team.
  • Provide inpatient consultations across departments including Cardiology, Nephrology, Neurology, and Oncology.
  • Conduct dedicated OPD clinics and ensure structured follow-up care for chronic respiratory patients.

Procedural Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostic and therapeutic fiberoptic bronchoscopy.
  • Conduct thoracentesis and intercostal drain (ICD) insertion.
  • Initiate and manage CPAP/BiPAP therapy and non-invasive ventilation (NIV).
  • Perform pleural biopsy, BAL, and FNAC guidance (as applicable).

Administrative & Quality

  • Maintain accurate EMR documentation in accordance with NABH standards.
  • Participate in clinical audits, CMEs, mortality and morbidity meetings.
  • Develop and implement respiratory care protocols.
  • Mentor junior doctors, residents, and nursing staff.

Patient Education & Outreach

  • Conduct awareness programs on respiratory health, smoking cessation, occupational lung diseases, and pollution-related disorders.
  • Support occupational health and corporate health screening programs.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential Qualification:

  • MD (Medicine) + DM (Pulmonary Medicine)

OR

  • DNB (Respiratory Medicine)

Acceptable Alternate:

  • MD (Respiratory Medicine)

OR

  • DTCD + MD (Medicine) with significant pulmonology experience

Registration:

  • Valid registration with Gujarat Medical Council / NMC

Experience:

  • 2–5 years post-DM/DNB experience preferred
  • Senior Residents / Post-DM candidates with strong procedural skills may be considered
