Job Title: Consultant Urologist
Department: Urology
Salary : 54 LPA
Location: Gandhidham, Kutch
Job Summary:
The Consultant Urologist will be responsible for providing high-quality surgical care to patients with diseases and disorders of the urinary tract (in both males and females) and the male reproductive system. The role involves diagnosing conditions, performing surgical interventions (including minimally invasive procedures), and managing post-operative care.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical & Surgical Duties
Outpatient Care (OPD): Conduct daily consultations for patients presenting with urological issues such as kidney stones, urinary tract infections (UTIs), prostate enlargement (BPH), incontinence, and infertility.
Surgical Interventions: Perform elective and emergency urological surgeries proficiently. Expected competencies typically include:
Endourology: TURP, TURBT, URS, RIRS, PCNL, and Cystolithotripsy.
Open Urology: Nephrectomy, Pyeloplasty, Prostatectomy, and Uthroplasty.
Uro-Oncology: Management of malignancies of the kidney, bladder, prostate, and testis.
Andrology: Management of male infertility and erectile dysfunction.
Emergency Care: Provide on-call coverage for urological emergencies such as urinary retention, testicular torsion, renal colic, and urosepsis.
Inpatient Management: Conduct daily ward rounds to monitor pre-operative and post-operative patients, ensuring appropriate medication, catheter care, and recovery progress.
Diagnostic Interpretation
Interpret diagnostic tests including X-rays (KUB), Ultrasounds, CT Urograms, MRI, and Uroflowmetry studies.
Perform diagnostic procedures like Cystoscopy and Biopsies.
Quality & Administrative
Maintain accurate and timely patient medical records (EMR) and discharge summaries.
Adhere to standard operating procedures (SOPs), infection control protocols, and patient safety goals.
Participate in departmental meetings, Clinical Medical Education (CME) sessions, and case presentations.
Provide counseling to patients and family members regarding treatment options, risks, and preventive care.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education:
MBBS from a recognized medical college.
MS (General Surgery) or DNB (General Surgery).
M.Ch (Urology) or DNB (Genito-Urinary Surgery) is mandatory.
Licensure: Valid registration
Experience:
1-3 years of post-qualification experience is preferred.
Experience with Laser Urology and Laparoscopic Urology is highly desirable.
Skills:
High proficiency in Endourological procedures.
Strong hand-eye coordination and surgical precision.
Excellent communication skills for patient counseling.
Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
Working Conditions
The role requires working in clinical, surgical, and ward environments.
May require rotation in night shifts or on-call duties for emergencies.
Exposure to surgical equipment, lasers, and radiation (C-arm usage) requiring standard safety adherence.
