Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities:-
Define mechanical architecture and guide system-level design Drive tooling strategy and oversee complex mold development Lead prototype planning, execution, and cross-functional alignment Conduct or review simulations (thermal, modal, structural)
Manage tooling vendors, supplier audits, and quality assurance Approve materials and manufacturing processes strategically Approve documentation and establish standardization practices Lead technical syncs across departments and resolve escalations Own certification readiness and third-party compliance
Mentor juniors, review team output, and build team capability
Key Result Areas :
Define mechanical architecture and validate design decisions
Review DFM reports, lead tooling strategy and vendor design reviews Plan and oversee prototyping and validation phases
Lead all simulation reviews and pre-production risk assessments Own vendor relationships, tooling quality, and supplier alignment
Approve and standardize documentation; define internal best practices Lead coordination with ID, EE, FW teams for system-level success Approve selections based on performance, cost, and availability
Drive DFMEA, root cause resolution, and product improvement cycles Mentor juniors, conduct reviews, and build team capability
Internal:
Define mechanical architecture and design strategy
Review and guide DFM/DFA and DFMEA processes
Drive validation plans, simulation reviews, and testing strategy
Own and approve documentation packages and design standards
Lead root cause analysis and implement design/process improvements
Guide junior engineers, conduct design reviews
External:
Lead tooling/vendor strategy and mold design negotiations
Partner with production teams to scale up for mass manufacturing
Manage external design partners and enforce standards
Oversee external testing labs and coordinate certification efforts
Conduct supplier audits and drive improvements
Educational Qualification: Qualification: BE in Mechanical or equivalent
Required Skills:
Expert in CAD with focus on design architecture and review Strategic oversight and review of DFM, DFA, DFMEA Expertise in advanced tooling (2K, insert, multi-cavity)
Deep expertise in selection, testing, and cost-performance balance Advanced tolerance management for complex assemblies Independent use of FEA, Moldflow, and simulation interpretation Leads and plans prototyping and pilot builds
Manages tooling partners and supplier quality engagements Approves documents; defines templates and standards
Leads meetings, mentors team, and drives cross-functional sync Ensures full compliance and certification readiness
