Job Description

Experience in DB2 v11, v12 and IMS v15 on z/OS administration.
Managing and creation of IMS Control Blocks, DBDs, PSBs & ACBs.
Managing the IMS Database Recovery Control (DBRC) and RECON datasets.
Knowledge about IMS SYSGEN process - Defining/Adding Transactions and Programs to the IMS system.
Knowledge of IMS database organization using access methods of VSAM and OSAM, HDAM, HIDAM, Fast Path databases (DEDBs).
Knowledge on IMS Utilities like DBDGEN, PSBGEN, ACBGEN, Online Changes, IMS commands related to ACB and FORMAT changes.
Strong Knowledge on IBM, CA, BMC utilities for IMS, DB2 z/OS DBs and JCL.
Sound knowledge in SQL fine tuning and understanding of DB2 access paths on DB2 z/OS.
Spearhead team efforts to upgrade to NEW and IMPROVED structure capabilities – e.g., converting Db2 tablespaces to massively improved Universal TableSpace type structures.
Identify long running IMS and/or Db2 threads, review the commit frequencies and suggest the application developers with appropriate solutions.
Exposure to the entire Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) of DB2/IMS databases from analysis through decommissions, Knowledge on Change management tools like endevor, promoting the DB changes through various staging environments.
Proactive monitoring of Databases and performing the health checks, carry out the maintenance on need basis.
Working experiences with REXX, COBOL program preparation.
24X7 support experience in a large production environment including Batch support and Abend resolution.
Having knowledge of RDBMS & NoSQL along with automation/cloud skills will be an added advantage
