Job Title: General Manager – Operations
Location: Mahad, Raigad, Maharashtra
Salary: 18 to 22 LPA
Experience: 12-15 Years
Department: Operations
Reporting To: Deputy Managing Director (Deputy MD)
Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced General Manager – Operations to lead and manage end-to-end plant operations, ensuring excellence in production, quality management, capacity utilization, and on-time delivery. The ideal candidate will be responsible for driving operational efficiency, profitability, continuous improvement, and people development while collaborating closely with Sales, Supply Chain, and Vendor partners to achieve business objectives.
Qualifications / Requirements
- Proven experience in managing complete plant operations.
- Strong expertise in production management, quality systems, and manufacturing operations.
- Experience in capacity planning, process improvement, and operational excellence.
- Strong leadership, team management, and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience in vendor management, supply chain coordination, and production planning.
- Knowledge of preventive maintenance, automation projects, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
Plant Performance
- Develop plant performance metrics to measure operational efficiency and drive continuous improvement.
- Monitor capacity utilization and manpower utilization to achieve optimum productivity.
- Identify improvement opportunities, including automation projects.
- Execute improvement initiatives within defined cost and timeline budgets.
People Performance
- Establish performance metrics to monitor employee productivity.
- Drive a high-performance culture focused on ownership and accountability.
- Define roles and responsibilities within plant operations.
- Conduct regular performance reviews to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
Quality Management
- Implement processes to achieve desired product and service quality standards.
- Ensure adherence to quality control systems and delivery standards.
- Drive continuous quality improvement initiatives.
Plant Machinery & Equipment
- Monitor machine utilization and operational performance.
- Improve machine uptime and minimize equipment breakdowns.
- Enhance machine and workforce productivity.
- Plan and execute preventive maintenance schedules.
On-Time Delivery (OTD)
- Manage production planning and delivery schedules.
- Achieve and continuously improve On-Time Delivery (OTD) performance.
- Train teams to improve delivery performance.
- Identify operational bottlenecks and implement corrective actions.
Sales Coordination
- Collaborate with Sales teams to maximize plant capacity utilization and delivery performance.
- Support customer audits, visits, and business development initiatives.
- Ensure customer requirements are effectively addressed.
Vendor Management
- Develop and maintain relationships with key vendors and suppliers.
- Evaluate vendor performance based on quality, cost, and delivery.
- Negotiate commercial agreements and ensure compliance.
- Identify and onboard new vendors to support business growth.
Supply Chain Coordination
- Coordinate with Supply Chain teams to ensure timely availability of raw materials.
- Align production schedules with procurement and inventory planning.
- Collaborate on demand forecasting and production planning.
- Resolve supply-related production bottlenecks.
People Management & Employee Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop the plant operations team.
- Conduct performance appraisals and provide constructive feedback.
- Identify training requirements and facilitate employee development programs.
- Foster a positive work environment and employee engagement.
Cost Control & Profitability
- Monitor and control operational costs, including materials, labor, and overheads.
- Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives.
- Drive waste reduction and resource optimization.
- Support the achievement of profitability targets.
Production Process & Technology Upgradation
- Evaluate and improve existing production processes.
- Recommend and implement new technologies and best practices.
- Lead technology upgradation projects with minimal operational disruption.
- Ensure successful adoption of new manufacturing processes.
